Penelope

Penelope

As King Ulysses ventures into the vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea, he leaves with a promise to return before supper.

Penelope watches him with a blend of serenity, pride, and resilience. "A man's got to do what a man's got to do," he declared, firing up the potent engine of the "Soul Power."

Ulysses is no warrior king; he is a facilitator, a miracle worker, a runner. Through these waters, he makes things flow up north. —What things, you may ask? Anything that pays, baby, Anything that pays...

Inspiration

Inspired by the reinterpretation of Ulyssess's odyssey “Ulysses comes for supper” A digital drawing made in 2021, Colombian artists Henry Rodriguez H. created 40 NFTs, each a tribute to Penelope, the emblematic Queen of Ithaca. As she stares the bright Caribbean Sea, awaiting the return of her king, Ulysses, this series explore the parallels with modern women whose lives are intertwined with the bittersweet strands of hope and uncertainty.

Each piece in the collection captures a state of mind between the departure and the anticipated reunion – a contemporary reimagining of Penelope’s vigil, filled with color, style These Penelope, much like her mythological counterpart, holds onto the promises given by her king, but the unpredictable tides of our times offer no guarantees for a 'happily ever after.'

The series delves into the emotional labyrinth of waiting in an uncertain world. It reflects the reality of those who wait in love and hope, while confronting the possibility that their narratives may not conclude like the stories of old. In the delicate balance of faith and realism, the series navigates the complexities of modern relationships, echoing the ancient yet timeless act of waiting – not just for a person, but for the fulfillment of a promise in an age where certainty is a luxury.

This collection is an homage to resilience, to the quiet strength that endures the test of time and the tempest of doubt. It's an invitation to witness the tale of Penelope re-spun, intertwining myth with the visceral strands of contemporary life, each NFT a digital monument to the unwavering spirit of hope.
